Temporary grades are not calculated in the GPA, but a student who receives a temporary grade is ineligible for the Dean\u2019s List. Undergraduate students cannot graduate with any temporary grades.<\/p>\n<p>The following temporary grades are available:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Incomplete (I): <\/strong>Assigned only under extenuating circumstances and only when a significant body of satisfactory work has been completed in a course.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Missing a Final Examination (M): <\/strong>Given to a student who misses a final examination, provided the student could pass the course if the final examination is successfully completed. The grade of F is given if the student could not pass the course even with the final examination.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Missing a Final Examination and Other Work (MI): <\/strong>Assigned to a student who misses the final examination and whose work is incomplete in other respects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Policies surrounding the assignment and resolution of temporary grades are defined by each undergraduate school. May be converted to permanent incomplete if not resolved by agreed-upon deadlines.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Engineering Professional:<\/strong> Incomplete (I),\u00a0Missing a Final Examination (M), Missing a Final Examination and Other Work (MI).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Graduate School:<\/strong> Incomplete (I). May be converted to an F at the end of one year at the instructor&#8217;s discretion, or may be converted to a permanent incomplete.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Law School:<\/strong> Incomplete (I). May be converted to permanent incomplete if not resolved by agreed-upon deadlines.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Owen Graduate School of Management:<\/strong> Incomplete (I).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Peabody Professional:<\/strong> Incomplete (I), Missing a Final Examination (M), Missing a Final Examination and Other Work (MI).<\/li>\n<li><strong>School of Medicine:<\/strong> Incomplete (I), P-star (P*).<\/li>\n<li><strong>School of Nursing:<\/strong> Incomplete (I).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Policies surrounding the assignment and resolution of temporary grades are defined by each school.
