{"id":198,"date":"2016-03-02T22:26:39","date_gmt":"2016-03-02T22:26:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\/enrollmentbulletin\/?page_id=198"},"modified":"2026-01-28T20:19:17","modified_gmt":"2026-01-28T20:19:17","slug":"course-requisites","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\/enrollmentbulletin\/academic-regulations\/course-requisites\/","title":{"rendered":"Course Requisites"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Course requisites are used to ensure that students understand the type of knowledge a course will build upon\/require in order to be successful.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prerequisite: Any requirement (e.g., course, test score) that must be completed prior to taking a course.<\/li>\n<li>Corequisite: Any requirement that must be enrolled concurrently with, or successfully completed prior to, a specific course.<\/li>\n<li>Antirequisite: Antirequisites are courses that with substantial overlap in course content such that both courses cannot be taken for full credit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Requisites are listed in course descriptions, which can be found both in the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\/catalogs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">School Catalog<\/a> and in the Class Search application in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/yes.vanderbilt.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YES<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Students are responsible for meeting the published requisites for each course requested.<\/p>\n<p>Students can be in the process of completing a pre-requisite in order to enroll in a course during the following term. This is considered a conditional enrollment. Post-enrollment requisite checks will occur prior to the start of the following term.
